GBC Bachelor Degrees
Bachelor Degrees (also referred to as "baccalaureate degrees") entail four years of concentrated study for full-time students, preparing them for professional positions in managerial/supervisory roles in government and industry, as social workers, or as Nevada certified teachers and nurses.
All baccalaureate programs at Great Basin College have special admission and completion requirements (for details, see the particular program of interest). GBC offers the following baccalaureate degrees:
- Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education
- Bachelor of Arts in English
- Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education
- Bachelor of Arts in Social Science
- Bachelor of Arts in Natural Resources
- Bachelor of Applied Science in Land Surveying/Geomatics
- Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Services
- Bachelor of Applied Science in Instrumentation
- Bachelor of Applied Science in Management and Supervision
- Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Bachelor in Social Work 3+1 Program
Maintaining Good Standing
For the Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), and Bachelor of Arts Integrated Studies (BAIS), a 2.0 grade point average is required for graduation.
For the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Elementary or Secondary Education degrees, the required grade point average is 2.50.
Appropriate professional and ethical behavior, as defined in the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) code, is also required.
College-wide graduation requirements also apply.
Earning Two Bachelor's Degrees
You may earn two bachelor's degrees provided that requirements for both degrees are fully satisfied. Please declare your intention to pursue dual degrees with the GBC Admissions and Records office.
The courses taken for the second degree must include a minimum of 32 credits (excluding developmental and community service classes) earned in residence at GBC beyond the credit required for the first degree.
Each degree requires a separate application for graduation.
